WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
FEATURES AND CARE
Paying some extra attention to how you wash your clothes will not only prolong their life, but also help minimize the environmental impact and save our natural resources. The washing instructions on the label will give you advise on how to best care for your garment, and here are some other resourceful advice.
Chunky-knits
Chunky-knits should be reshaped and dried flat to maintain the original shape, which is why these garments are additionally labelled “Dry flat”.
Linen
Linen is a natural material and can easily get mis-shapen when wet. To restore the garment to its original shape, iron it with a hot steam iron. To keep its sheen, iron the garment on the reverse side.
Viscose
Viscose is an artificial fiber from cellulose and can easily get mis-shapen when wet. To restore the garment easily to its original shape, iron it with a steam iron.
Silk
Silk is a very delicate material and should be treated with care. Use a detergent for delicates when washing silk and do not stretch the garment while wet.
Wool
Often, airing woollen garments is enough. Use a detergent for delicates when you do wash them. Use the wool or hand wash cycle on your washing machine or wash by hand. Iron after washing to restore the natural sheen.
Denim
Wash jeans inside out to reduce fade. Remove them from the washing machine as soon as possible after the programme has ended to avoid creasing. Denim’s characteristic appearance is the result of a special dyeing method. As a result, small pigment particles may remain on the surface and can rub off.
Leather and suede
Leather and suede garments should be taken to a leather specialist for cleaning. Follow the care instructions.
Shoe polish and/or waterproofing spray should be applied to leather shoes and bags. This simple measure will improve their protection against water, extending the life of your bag and making them more capable of withstanding dirt.
Just use waterproofing spray for suede and nubuck, not polish. Try not to wear your suede/nubuck shoes or carry your suede/nubuck bag if it is raining or very damp out, because this could cause staining on the product and the dye in the product could rub off onto your belongings more easily. Insert shoe trees to keep your shoes in shape, and use a shoe horn to protect the highbacks/heels of your shoes when you put them on. Undo your laces and buckles when taking your shoes off and putting them on.
Down jackets
Place tennis balls in the tumble dryer when drying down garments to distribute the down evenly. The down must be dried completely.
Rainwear
Rainwear should drip-dry. If you dry them in a drying cabinet, do so at a low temperature. Follow the care instructions.
Details
Take off removable details and do up Velcro and zip fastenings before washing. Wash nylon tights and delicate garments with details in a laundry bag.
CONSCIOUS WASHING
Washing, drying and ironing your clothes accounts for 36% of the total environmental impact of the average garment during its lifetime!
This can be more than halved if we make smarter choices.
You can help the planet and your wardrobe by washing your clothes less frequently, reducing the washing temperature, ironing less and avoiding tumble-drying.
Choosing smart care methods can help you to extend the life of your wardrobe favourites while also reducing your environmental impact, and your clothes will be just as clean.
Don’t wash clothes unnecessarily
Don’t wash clothes that are not dirty. Often, airing and brushing clothes is enough.
Lower the washing temperature
LAOREN MORGAN always labels its garments with the highest permitted temperature. But you can select a lower washing temperature to save energy. Most detergents wash just as well at lower temperatures. Washing at 40°C uses around half as much energy as washing at 60°C. LOREN MORGAN recommends that heavily soiled clothes and underwear are always washed at the highest temperature allowed. Do not wash your clothes at temperatures hotter than those stated in the care instructions.
Fill your washing machine
Sort the clothes by colour and washing temperature. Fill up your washing machine, but don’t stuff too much in. A washing machine is full when you can place a clenched fist on top of the washing without compressing the clothes. Use an energy saving programme – most modern washing machines have one.
Choose an eco-friendly laundry detergent
Use an environmentally friendly detergent that is free from optical whiteners and phosphates, since these have a negative environmental impact when released into nature. Dose the detergent as stated on the packaging. Overdosing detergent will not make your clothes cleaner. To get the dose right, you need to know whether you have hard or soft water. Avoid fabric conditioners, although We recommends that acrylic garments are washed with fabric conditioner to counter static electricity in the garment after washing.
Avoid dry cleaning
Dry cleaning is a process in which the clothes are cleaned using an organic solvent. Dry cleaning has a negative environmental impact when the solvent is released into nature. A small proportion of LOREN’s garments are dry clean only, because they contain details or materials than could change colour or become misshapen by washing at home. Today, there are also greener methods of dry cleaning that clean the clothes using only carbon dioxide reclaimed from industry. This type of dry cleaning therefore does not release chemicals.
Leave your washing out to dry
It is preferable to leave your washing out to dry since tumble drying and drying cabinets use a lot of energy. To reduce drying time, gentle cycle the clothes well before taking them out of the washing machine.
Give away your clothes!
When you no longer have a use for clothes, give them to an organisation that can extend the garment’s life.

In collaboration with local non-profit organisations, we recover garments that are no longer used and give them a second life.
We currently offer this service in our stores, and we are working to bring it to our online store customers through collection services at home or nearby drop points.
For more information, visit our Collection programme section.
If you have any queries or suggestions, please contact us through any of the Customer Service channels. We will be delighted to help you.
DIFFERENT PACKAGING
We’re taking steps in our commitment to mostly using packaging materials from recycled or sustainable sources. As we are testing to find alternative solutions, your parcel might be packaged in a paper bag or you might have received items without individual polybags.
These steps are just some of the ways that we are exploring and contributing towards a sustainable future.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How should I package my clothing?
Any garments must be placed inside a well-sealed package, which you must then deposit in the containers made available at the store.
Do the items have to be from LOREN MORGAN?
No they do not. You can bring any kind of clothing or fabrics you wish to recycle.
Can I bring other products such as bag or accessories?
Yes, you may include any kind of clothing, household linen, bag, accessories and footwear.
Can I bring clothes that are not in perfect condition?
Yes. The garments collected will be sorted before being reused or recycled. All garments which are 100% cotton, wool or polyester can be recycled into new fabrics. The rest of the clothing will be turned into materials for the construction and automotive sectors. Garments that cannot be reused or recycled for reasons of hygiene, health and safety, or quality of the materials undergo a rigorous waste management procedure.
What happens to the items once they have been delivered?
Loren Morgan will be in charge of collecting and delivering the garments to the sorting centres run by the organisations we work with, where they are classified to ensure that each item gets sent to the best possible destination. Depending on the capacities of each organisation, the garments may be:
_ Reused to support those in need.
_ Marketed through the charitable channels used by the non-profit organisations to finance their social projects.
_ Reused and transformed into other textile products such as cloths.
_ Recycled into new fibres and materials for the construction and automotive sectors (seat filling, cushions, etc.).
Garments that cannot be reused or recycled for reasons of hygiene, health and safety, or quality of the materials undergo a rigorous waste management procedure.
The aim of all these processes is to provide direct social support or to finance social projects that are developed or run by the non-profit organisations we work with. Furthermore, in certain cases, such as Spain, the initiative boosts the creation of jobs for people at risk of experiencing social exclusion.
How can we guarantee the garments reach their destination?
Non-profit organisations have their own verification process to ensure these garments are sent to an ethical destination.
How are the non-profit organisations that we work with selected?
We work with local organisations so that the projects contribute directly to your community. We select these organisations based on their experience, good practices in collecting used clothing, reputation and transparency.
What is Loren's role?

MATERIALS
We work with monitoring programmes to ensure compliance with safety, health and quality standards for our products.
The Green to Wear 2.0 standard aims to minimise the environmental impact of textile manufacturing. To that end, we have developed Loren’s The List programme, which helps guarantee both that production processes are clean and that our garments are safe and healthy.
RECYCLED POLYESTER
Recycled polyester is produced from recycled PET plastic, such as that found in plastic bottles.
Whenever you throw a plastic bottle into a recycling bin, it is taken to a waste separation and classification plant. These plants separate the different types of plastic and give it a better purpose. The PET plastic is cleaned, shredded and recycled into a new recycled polyester fibre.
As a result, we are able to give new life to plastic waste and reduce the consumption of virgin raw material through a process that consumes less water and less energy and generates less waste.
The recovered thread has characteristics similar to virgin polyester: it is strong, resistant and long-lasting and can always be recycled again.
Certifications
We only use recycled polyester certified by organisations which monitor the process from the source to the final product. At present, we work with:
Global Recycled Standard (GRS)
Recycled Content Standard (RCS)Environmental benefits
Recycling reduces the consumption of virgin raw materials
Reduction of water consumption
Reduction of power consumption
